Do you have any good resources/references/advice for drawing (late republican) Roman clothing? I want to draw a couple of historical figures but thinking about drawing a toga makes me feel like 😖😖😖...

-build a screenshot reference library from movies and shows that have costume designs you like, that kind of thing. grab a blanket and wrap yourself up in it toga style and take a photo if you need a specific angle. etc. museums usually have a lot of their galleries online, and places like the met often shoot statues from multiple sides.

Absolutely obsessed with how we as the JCS fandom just adopted Godspell too. Like yeah we got the Arena Tour and the 1973 movie and the 2000 movie and the Swedish one and the Austrian cowboys one and this one and that one and those over there and. And also Godspell. Godspell which is almost the emotional opposite of JCS? Yeah it’s ours now.

and if i said that jesus christ superstar (1973) is one of the only movie adaptions of a stage musical that’s ever worked because its staging, communication of thematic meaning through design (set, costume, choreography, etc), and dedication to the source material makes it feel less like a film and more like a professional recording of the show being performed on an outdoor stage? what then?
